IATF 16949:2016 is a quality management system standard, also known as "International Automotive Task Force 16949:2016" or simply IATF 16949.
It is an automotive industry-specific quality management system standard and serves as a special appendix to ISO 9001. IATF 16949:2016 was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and was published in 2016.
The standard aims to provide a unified quality management system framework for automotive manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that their products and services meet the requirements and expectations of the automotive industry. By adhering to IATF 16949:2016, companies can improve their quality management systems, reduce product defects, enhance customer satisfaction, and gain a competitive advantage in the international automotive market.
IATF 16949:2016 incorporates some requirements from ISO 9001:2015 and adds supplementary requirements specific to the automotive industry. Therefore, companies implementing IATF 16949 must comply with both the requirements of ISO 9001 and the additional requirements of IATF 16949.
